Personality:

Anais is a far cry from what one would call a "refined lady". Being part of Moeras' indigenous population, she's spent all her life in the marshland and knew little else than her rudimentary lifestyle for a long time. This simple life without much luxury made Anais grow up into a rather rough and sometimes blunt woman. She wears her heart on her sleeve and won't hide what she's thinking - in fact, Anais hates to sugarcoat things and gets annoyed when others beat around the bush instead of just saying what they want to.

Despite being somewhat rough around the edges and a bit uncouth, Anais is actually a friendly and easygoing person, who likes to laugh a lot and clearly suscribes more to the "well, the glass is half full to me" theory. Granted, Anais has a kinda crude sense of humour, but she doesn't usually harp on people unless they give her reason to do so. That said, she does have a bit of a soft spot for those younger than her - and a bit of a tendency to develop a big sister instinct.


History:

Anais was born in the outskirts of Nreole, as the youngest child of her family. For her, living in the middle of a marshland was never unusual to her - it was the only thing the child actually knew of the world - and anything beyond her own home was still far out of her reach. Indeed, her childhood was a peaceful and, well, almost eventless one. There was little else to do than fool around with her brothers and pull harmless pranks on the cityfolk , but in hindsight, Anais wouldn't want to change a thing about it.

When she grew older, Anais grew up to be far more adventurous and would often venture further into the marsh - even at night, to "heighten the thrill". She would do so on more than one occasion, assured that her Piloswine would be enough to protect her, but an unfortunate encounter with a mother Beartic would've almost been the end of her. Anais still carries the scars today - though she sees them more as some kind of "battle marks" than something to be ashamed of.

The incident didn't hold Anais down - in fact, only a few months later, she would travel all over the region to expand her horizon for a bit. It would always draw her back to her hometown, though - at least until the wanderlust grasped her once more.


Other information:

- Anais prefers wearing baggy clothing above everything. According to herself, she just likes to feel the wind in her clothes.

- She actually carries a blowpipe for self-defence purposes. The incident with the Beartic taught her better than to only rely on her pokémon to come to her aid when her life's on the line.

- Pretty much every morning, she'll put on her typical warpaint, only leaving it aside for really fancy occasions. Anais has already gotten so used to having it on her face, she feels almost bare without it.

- Anais doesn't suffer from any self-esteem issues when it comes to her rather stocky build. In fact, she does have quite the self-confidence and it's above her why her more stout frame should bother her in the slightest.

It's not hard to see that Gigi is the absolute powerhouse of Anais' team. The Mamoswine's been with Anais since she was still a child, and so the two of them had years to grow together as partners. Actually, Gigi's a rather docile pokémon that doesn't usually lash out, however she's fiercely protective of Anais - and in battle she can dish out as much as she can take, which is a whole lot.

Furthermore, she's Anais' mount of choice ,whenever she doesn't have to travel by boat. The Mamoswine might look like one big, slow lump of meat, but she's faster on her legs than one would expect from a pokémon her size.

A mischievous Toxicroak with a tendency to boast. A lot. Actually, it's kind of usual for Maupin to try and humiliate or insult her opponent in battle - and boy does she enjoy it if she succeeds. While she is a very capable fighter and a good balance to Gigi's mighty glacier archetype, her attitude can grate on people's nerves big time. Anais finds it hilarious, but then again she's got her very own brand of humour.

Anais is extremely attached to her monstrous pet serpent - even if the beast just so happens to be the weird one out of her trio. It's not exactly the unusual colour that turns Lisque into a live oddity, it's rather her behaviour. One day, she'll behave like an overgrown puppy dog with scales, then she'll try to hatch the eggs of bird pokémon instead of devouring them, or spray acid on laundry heaps. As Anais often claims "The shine's gotten to her head" and maybe those words carry quite a lot of truth to them.
