Personality

With age comes a lot of things, or so they say, and Oktavia has turned into a calm and patient person. All the years she's lived have made her come to terms with herself and her own strenghts and weaknesses and so she's become quite the self-confident one, comfortable with herself and her actions. It's quite hard to anger Oktavia - and she knows how to keep her temper in check when she is actually vexed for once.

That strong sense of justice of hers just comes naturally with her alley of work - and , boy, it used to be far more intense in her youth - though she has learned to pick her battles. Now Oktavia's the one to calm down the hotheads when they fall out of line. There is something motherly about her and she actually enjoys giving out some heartfelt advice, but together with that authority she practically radiates she can come across as somewhat patronising without even intending to be. It's just that belief that she knows what's best for others that could rub some the wrong way.


History

Oktavia tends to say that "Back then, everything was so much simpler." when referring to her family. Fifty-three years ago she was born as the first child of a hotheaded fighting-type specialist and a psychologist. It was a calm, uneventful childhood, actually. Even when it became clear that Oktavia had inherited her mother's psychic powers, the revelation didn't stir up the family relations - in fact, her parents were supportive of her daughter's not to ordinary talent.

Eventually, her two younger siblings Beatrice and Gerrit were born and Oktavia had grown up into quite the hothead. Oh, and she was infamous for being that girl with the wild, red hair who rebelled against any authority figure or injustice that she saw. For some time she was not above picking actual fistfights and it wasn't until she grew a little older that Oktavia grew more reasonable and decided to study law. It was her studies, in part, that helped her cope with Gerrit's constant envy issues towards his two sisters.

For decades, she's been a capable and well-respected policewoman. Now, there had always been quite a few others who would see her as weird for never wanting to have any children - and not being too thrilled by the idea of marriage either - but in the long one, she just ignored the criticising voices and did her thing. Only when she reached her mid-forties, Oktavia did a little career change and became a prosecutor - "to get a little less action", apparently.

Well, except not, she still participates in the investigations as much as she used to. Old habits die hard. Oktavia's lived and worked as a prosecutor at Lochesch's capital for two years now.


Other information

- Despite her attempts to speak "proper English", Oktavia can't stop that Bavarian accent of hers from seeping through at times.

- She's got a couple of scars on her face, back from when she was a cop: two near the corners of her mouth (also known as a slight "Glasgow Grin") and one running down her face close to her left eye.

- Oktavia is a Psychic who specialises in illusionist talents (think Zoroark). In that vein, she is able to manipulate people's senses with powerful illusions, though even an expert like her has her limits. In fact, going further than she's able to is actually life-threatening for her.

- Besides this, she is a good mindreader, but on the flipside she is just average when it comes to telekinesis (only being able to lift barely half her weight. )

The first thing that probably comes to people's minds when seeing him would be "creepy alien". Indeed, Galileo's appearance is an unsettling one, though he isn't as violent and murderous as me might look. Actually, he's more of a snarky, old man than anything. That however doesn't mean that he cannot fight back if he must.

Originally born as Gudrun Lange, this Jellicent is a bit of an odd one out. Until her gruesome death, in fact, she used to be a normal fifteen year old, one that didn't expect to have everything leading up to her being drowned happening to her. Oktavia just so happened to be a young cop and part of the investigation team that looked into Gudrun's case. By then, the girl's ghost had already turned into a Frillish, while retaining part of her humanity and appearance. It was this ghost who led Oktavia to Gudrun's body and vital evidence that helped in getting her murderer jailed. After that, out of some sort of gratefulness, Gudrun decided to stay by the policewoman's side and took on the name of Ophelia - must have been gallows humour.

Kalliope's been with Oktavia ever since her childhood. Despite looking threatening, the old dog is surprisngly gentle and loyal to her mistress. She might be strong and experienced, but still it sometimes feels like Kalliope cannot really shine in comparison to her other teammates. Despite this, she is always keen on giving her all.
